Jennifer’s Bridals at Laguna Gloria in Austin, TX

To put it simply, Jennifer is fun and easy to be around. Oh, and she’s gorgeous and has a good sense of humor. Basically, I was happy to wade through the thick 105 degree heat to photograph her in her awesome wedding dress for some bridal portraits at Laguna Gloria. We met up just a week before the wedding because of alteration issues with the dress and I could tell that she was just ready to be married. Enough with the planning, enough with the details, she was ready to walk down the aisle and get down to business. I have loved Jennifer’s attitude since the beginning and I think it really shows in these photographs. I can’t wait to show her beautiful wedding day!

Terry & Ayman’s Engagements at Austin Pets Alive in Austin, TX

As soon as I met Terry and Ayman, I knew that I should be a part of their day. They are happy and in love and it genuinely shows, something that I am a firm believer in. Terry has been beyond excited about the photography aspect of her day since our first e.mail exchange which makes my job 100 times easier. As soon as we started talking engagements, she wrote me an e.mail that went a little something like this-

“Hey Leah, I have a very odd request, that I’m not even sure can be done, but figured you’d know better than I would. Ayman and I rescue EVERYTHING, dogs, cats, birds, people, EVERYTHING. Our friends commonly refer to the condo as the half-way house for all things strayed and hungry. We wanted to know if one of the locations for our 2 spot photoshoot could be at an animal shelter? It would be fun, playful and kinda symbolic of what we do as a couple. “

I honestly didn’t know what to do. I’d never heard of pictures at an animal shelter before, especially engagement pictures. I thought about it a lot, talked it over with Lindsey and my husband, and then decided that I wanted to do whatever I could to give Terry the most important pictures possible that would mean the most to her. We spent the first half of our session wandering around a path and finding hidden little treasures of spots and from there, took off to, Austin Pets Alive!

Austin Pets Alive was so excited about having Terry and Ayman take pictures there. Their staff was insanely helpful and friendly and the animals were as cute as could be. Every time Ayman and Terry picked up a new dog or cat to hold and cuddle, I could tell that they wanted to take them home with them. It really was a special thing to be a part of. Now I should let the pictures speak for themselves:

Mary’s Maternity Portraits on South Congress in Austin, TX

When Mark, Mary, and Mia walked up to me at our shoot, I knew that I was going to like the family. All decked out in Coverse shoes and dressed as stylin’ as could be AND wanting to start their shoot at a candy store? Yes, please! Mark and Mary are soon to be welcoming a little boy. I asked what “M” name they had picked out and surprisingly enough, they are switching it up! I can’t wait to meet little Jude and to see how perfectly he fits in with his awesome family. He sure is lucky.

Jessica & Jorge’s Chapel Dulcinea Wedding in Austin, TX

Jessica and Jorge are as lovely as can be. If you look back, you can view their courthouse wedding from a few months ago. I was so excited to reunite with the couple at a larger, but still intimate, celebration of their coming together. They kept it simple and lovely, opting to only be surrounded by their closest friends and family. The ceremony was at the beautiful Chapel Dulcinea with the reception held afterward at the delicious NXNW. My absolute favorite part of the day was when Jorge’s older sister gave a toast in her family’s language, Spanish. Even though neither Jessica or I could understand it, I could tell that the sentiment was loving and welcoming and as I looked at Jessica with tears in her eyes, I knew she could as well. Sometimes even a language barrier can be broken through.

I was so thankful to be a part of their day and so excited to see what comes next for this cutie family.

Daniel & Brittany’s 5 Year Anniversary at San Gabriel River

Daniel contacted me when he was trying to think of special ideas to surprise Brittany with for their five year anniversary. They hadn’t had “real” pictures taken together since their wedding day and they revealed to me that their wedding pictures were not the best ever. I was SO happy to be able to do this for them. Brittany kept saying, “We don’t know how to do this…” “We aren’t used to taking pictures…” but MAN, you can’t tell from the photos. Brittany and Daniel are super sweet together and have been that way for the past ten years, starting their relationship off in high school.

The day we did our shoot, I had just gotten over a two week long rash that I had gotten from taking pictures in trees. I told them the story as we walked through weird plants and joked that I better not have another reaction. Three days later, Brittany sent me a message saying that she had caught the worst bout of poison ivy she’d ever had from our time together. I felt SO bad for her. Hopefully when they look back at these pictures in five years, they remember how happy they were and not the awful poison ivy that happened:)
