When my job involves making friends with a lovely lady and getting to spend the early evening hours laughing and taking pictures of a stunning subject.. I’m pretty happy. I have absolutely loved getting to know Jennifer. At her and Nowlin’s engagements, I quickly found out that Jennifer has a perfect combination of humor and sweetness that makes it hard to not want to force her to be your friend. At her bridals, it was just cemented that she is a classy and beautiful lady that is so fun to be around. I can’t wait to share their gorgeous wedding that we shot last weekend, but for now.. how gorgeous is Jennifer?

Katy & Geoff’s Fredericksburg Wedding

When I think about Katy and Geoff, the first thought that goes through my brain goes something like this, “THESE PEOPLE ARE THE CAT’S PAJAMAS. HOW DO I BEFRIEND THEM?” The second thing that comes to mind is breakfast for dinner, because that’s what they served at their wedding. It was the best, but thats a topic for another post.

Moving on. Katy and Geoff. Love and marriage.

I’ll start this by saying I’m more of a quiet observer and an emotional person. I think that’s what helps me be good at my job. I like to take things in. I like to tell stories. I like to take pictures. Doing all three is hard, and doing them well is even more difficult. Katy and Geoff made that part of my job feel almost effortless. Maybe even obvious. Not because they were easy on the eyes to begin with, but because they have been nothing but warm, inviting, and kind since I met them. They invited us in to their lives and let us be part of their wedding in such an open way. I watched Geoff stand speechless with his mouth open as he saw Katy for the first time. I watched Katy’s dad cry sentimental tears during a prayer right before their ceremony. I got to listen to their guests talk from their seats about how pretty Katy looked and everyone adored the smile that never left her face. For the rest of the day we got to be part of all the excitement, happiness, and celebration that surrounded them. It was wonderful.

Telling their story was awesome. I’m so happy to share these.

Hands down, my favorite perk of this job is being able to trick our lovely clients into befriending us. It makes sense. We spend months getting to know them during their wedding planning. We witness some of their most emotional moments on their wedding day. We love being part of it all and keeping in touch. Eva & Philip are no exception. We photographed their Houston wedding in 2011, went to their baby shower late last year, and last month we traveled to New York to photograph their first baby, Pazel.

Magan and Dustyn’s Just Because Portraits

I’ve known and loved Magan through the amazing Austin photography community for years, now. So when she asked me to take photos of her and her husband, Dustyn, just because.. well, I was beyond flattered. As soon as I arrived at her house, I was floored by how much effort and love Magan and Dustyn have put in to making their house a home. I could spend a whole post just talking about how gorgeous the wood paneling in their bedroom was, alone. And then I could spend another day talking about how gorgeous Magan is, inside and out. But to wrap it all up, I was so happy to spend a few hours just watching this gorgeous couple cuddle and genuinely smile at each other. Celebrating your love every day of the year, just because, is a beautiful thing.

Kimberly and Clark’s Wedding at Green Pastures in Austin, TX

I’ve known Kimberly since middle school, have choreographed strange dances with her, shared in a million slumber parties, have been lucky enough to call her one of my best friends. So seeing her as a bride, as a woman, marrying the man she loves.. too much. I remember at one point at the very end of the night, the dance floor was going crazy (like, best dance floor partying I’ve ever seen) to “SHOUT” and I was standing up on a chair to get shots of the big crowd. I spotted Kimberly and Clark in the middle of the craziness, smiling the biggest smiles ever and whispering in each others ears. And it’s then that I cried for the first time to the song SHOUT. Weddings are awesome.
